Comprehending the Concepts of Being Ambassadors For Christ

We should first look at the passage of scripture in John 20:21; II Corinthians 5:20

John 20:21  Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

2 Corinthians 5:20, 20  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

What does it mean to be an ambassador, to be one sent by God, as Jesus Christ was himself sent by the Father?

1. An ambassador before acting receives a commission from the power for whom he or she acts. This commissioning is a mark of trust in the ambassador’s ability and training, in his or her integrity, and in the ambassador’s loyalty.
A –  in this church there are two manifestations of this commissioning, baptizing and confirmation.

(1) In Baptism we are commissioned by God as bearers of the ministry of reconciliation in the new nation of the called people of God.

(2) In confirmation we are also commissioned in this church in the doctrine and discipline of Christ.

B – How should such a representative act? He or she must act responsibly, intelligently, loyally, and without consideration for his ore her own feelings or for his own person. the ambassadors duty and high privilege is not merely to deliver a message nit precisely to be a diplomat, to deliver that message with grace and with authority and with tact and with maximum amount of effectiveness, and to watch for opportunities so  that the ambassador may place that message before his sharers in the best possible light.  The message is Gods message and as Gods message to every man. its not the message from man but strictly for man and to man. it is the most important message man could ever receive upon this earth as long as they live here. It offers forgiveness and renewal, of reconciliation with the most high God who made us and with the men and women with whom we life, and it’s the promise of restoration to the Father who sent us.

It’s the offer of power to become something that we are not now but can be if in faith and hope we are willing to surrender ourselves into that audacious servant hood, a costly servant hood to be sure, which is the gateway to freedom and to new life.

What’s the payoff as being true ambassadors for Christ. We’ll enjoy a new experience of God.
the payoff for being faithful under fire is found in James 1:2 “Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love him” The crown of life life sounds like something you will receive later on in heaven. but this is a reward that you can enjoy today, because the crown James is talking about is life itself. When God crowns us with life, its not just physical life, although that is certainly a gift from Him. But the crown of life is a glorious new experience of God and his glory that can change the way we life today, as well as “an eternal weight of Glory” when we are with the lord in Glory. (2 Corinthians 4:17-18) when God gives you the crown of life He is saying that you have passed the test and now He is going to invade your circumstances with a new level of His power and glory that will make you feel more alive than you have ever felt in your life.

It amazes me how often we seem to work deligently to make life work according to our own efferts and leave God out of the equation. He has given us all an opportunity to know Him and have the crown of life if only we use what he has laid in front of us. His Word is power amongst the worst evil that appears before our eyes each day but with this sword we can battle off the enemy with swiftness from the power of the crown of life.
